Christopher Boutlier is one of Washington’s most sought-after and respected designers. A graduate of George Washington University with an M.F.A. in Interior Design, and a member of the American Association of Interior Designers, he has worked on the private residences and workspaces of many prominent clients throughout the United States. His work has been featured in local and national publications.

Christopher Boutlier creates interiors that reflect the people who live and work in them — their lifestyles and sense of style. He designs spaces that excite the eye and are pleasing to live in. He works closely with each client, overseeing every aspect of the project to achieve an impeccable result.

His interiors are fresh, modern, crisp, yet soft; elegant and restrained, yet comfortable. Combining old and new elements, they are noted for their sightlines — architectural elements and objects arranged in rhythmic progressions. His interiors are a soothing antidote to the visual bombardment and clamor of modern life.

“DESIGN IS SO SIMPLE. THAT’S WHY IT’S SO COMPLICATED.”

Paul Rand

Christopher Boutlier Interiors is a firm of versatile and artistic designers whose aim is to embrace a home’s proportions, opening exciting sightlines that are offset by sumptuous and beautifully curated pieces. Christopher’s interiors are sleek, comfortable, and often minimal, where every object is placed with an artist’s eye for maximum visual impact amidst restful palettes. His homes are graceful, uncluttered sanctuaries amidst the bustle of daily life and when his clients come home, they know they are in a place uniquely reflective of their lifestyles and personalities.

Rob Williams

Designer

Rob Williams is a native Washingtonian who has always been obsessed with beautiful homes, architecture, furniture, and textiles. After initially pursuing a career as a lawyer, he decided to pursue his lifelong passion for Interior Design instead. He has been creating beautiful interiors for himself, family and friends. He has also worked extensively with real estate developers helping to select and renovate properties, providing him with a strong knowledge of building, renovating, and construction. A common thread that has always been present throughout his career is his love and appreciation of modern minimalism, clean lines, and understated elegant interiors. Working with Christopher has been a great opportunity to expand on his existing skills and to further refine his modern aesthetic.

Lydia Strunk

Designer

Lydia grew up in Washington, D.C., and currently lives in Chevy Chase, MD with her husband and three children. She joined Christopher Boutlier Interiors at the beginning of 2021, after being introduced to Christopher by Liz Forbes, and immensely enjoys the creative, collaborative, and exciting atmosphere of the firm.

Lydia enjoys creating clean, bright, and thoughtful spaces for her clients. She likes working with all styles, particularly finding ways to pair traditional styles and antiques with more contemporary furniture and spaces so that your space looks like it is being constantly curated and has been collected over time. She understands the desire to have a beautiful, yet functional home.

Lydia really enjoys renovation and construction and particularly likes coming up with unique solutions for often looked over spaces and is not afraid to experiment with new ideas. She loves pairing textiles and textures together to create unexpected layers in a room and also thrives on finding new textile designers to really make your space stand out. She thinks it is very important that all elements in a home come together so that while each room may be unique, they all end up flowing seamlessly from one to the next.

Matthew Quill

Matthew Quill grew up in a family of antique dealers and woodworkers, instilling in him at an early age an appreciation for found objects. He enjoys creating spaces that are modern and clean, filled with natural elements, neutral palettes, and infused with vintage pieces. Matthew has particular experience in European plaster techniques and surfaces. He recently finished designing his first entire house renovation, creating his dream home where he resides with his partner and three golden retrievers. Matthew is excited to learn from the creatives at Christopher Boutlier Interiors.

Liz Forbes

Designer

Liz Forbes joined Christopher Boutlier Interiors in March of 2021. She met Chris in 2014 when she and her husband Jeff hired him for their first home in Chevy Chase and they immediately connected both on a business and personal level. Although Liz grew up in a traditional New England home with an appreciation for antiques and traditional fabrics, since working with Chris, she now appreciates different design aesthetics and has gravitated toward transitional pieces. Liz has taken on a variety of projects since joining Christopher Boutlier Interiors and has moved beyond the surface level of interior design and has engaged the architectural and structural elements that make a house a home.

Liz grew up in New England and currently lives in Chevy Chase MD with her husband, three children, and two very small dogs.
